About Us
Fostering Wishes Foundation has a mission to create magical childhood moments for Delaware foster youth by providing special occasion Wishes and everyday necessities that improve their mental and physical health and wellbeing.
There is often no way for children in foster care to receive the basic goods they want or need, such as clothing or personal care items, let alone a special toy, instrument, or athletic equipment. Foster parents are not required to provide gifts, allowances, or anything beyond food and housing. Case Workers and volunteer Advocates (CASAs) who oversee these children are prohibited from purchasing gifts. The state allows just $300 annually per child, reserved strictly for necessities.
Since 2019, we’ve granted over 3,000 Wishes to kids who have endured the trauma of family separation, abuse, neglect, and instability, improving their lives and helping them overcome their adverse conditions. In 2025 alone, we provided more than 1,100 gifts to over 400 foster youth.
Our 2200 sq ft Little Free Store of Wishes carries over 10,000 brand-new, top-name products from bikes to bodywash so foster youth can find what brings them joy. Beginning in 2026, our “Fostering Futures” training series will include financial literacy and job preparedness for foster teens.
Fostering Wishes Foundation is a 100% volunteer 501c3 organization (EIN 84-2730658). Wishes include toys, instruments, back to school, prom, clothing and coats, footwear, bedding and towels, bikes, field trips, hygiene, suitcases, jewelry, cosmetics, arts and crafts, sports gear, household items, books, gift cards, and so much more!
We empower foster youth with choices that every kid deserves. Being celebrated on your birthday, having the same clothing and backpack as your peers, bikes to commute to work and school, coats and shoes that fit properly – the joys of a typical childhood.
Foster care is for youth who have been abused and/or neglected and have no family members willing or able to care for them. The State picks them up, often with only the
clothes on their backs and a few belongings shoved into a trash bag, creating emotional and material hardships for kids expected to start school just days later.
We rely on grants, donations, fundraisers and sponsorships to provide this vital service, thank you for supporting our efforts to improve the lives of children and teens in Delaware foster care.
